Article summary

The Gladeo platform complies with all Americans with Disabilities Act and Web Content Accessibility Guidelines.

The built-in Accessibility Menu widget, powered by UserWay, enables extra functionalities to support learners with disabilities, including blindness, dyslexia, limited mobility, and others.

It is located on the bottom right hand corner of each page.

Features

Accessibility Profiles

There are preset features under these accessibility profiles. For example let’s take a look at the ADHD profile: On Gladeo we don’t really have animations to distract the learners, but I think the reading mask is valuable, it allows the learner to only focus on a few sentences at a time.

Vision Limitations

  • For learners with vision limitations, you can turn on the oversized widget to make it easier to view options.
    • Some learners have a hard time with the default contrast settings, but you can adjust Contrast with just a click.
    • If a user can’t distinguish which text is hyperlinked, the Highlight Links feature helps the links stand out more.
    • The Bigger Text function increases font size, which is useful for many of us. Dyslexia Friendly fonts use a heavier typeface that may be useful for some readers.

Dictionary

The Dictionary feature lets learners highlight a word they don’t know and get the definition. They can even have it dictated to them so they can hear the pronunciation of the word.
